Yesterday I downloaded an emerald theme for the first time (link) and I had some difficult times making it load, the problem was that no theme would even work.
Emerald Theme Manager not working, here is the solution:
1) Assuming that you already have emerald theme manager we get to the next step. Do not have Emerald installed? Install it via Synaptic Package Manager (System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager). Search for Emerald and install it.
2) Press Alt + F2 (This will show you the Run Application window)
3) Type the following command:
5) Go back to Emerald Theme Manager and press on the theme you want to activate.
Tired of making this everytime?
1) Go to System > Preference > Session Preferences
2) Press the Add Button
3) For the name enter emerald replace theme (or everything you want, it doesn't matter)
4) At the command type: emerald --replace
5) Press Add and Close
